Studio 5 takes audiences inside the world of ballet on Monday, November 9th, at New York City Center. This edition focuses on the Prix de Lausanne, an international ballet competition for young dancers that can help launch careers with major companies around the world. The evening combines conversation and live performances from Prix alumni.
A Look Inside the Prix de Lausanne
Kathryn Bradney, artistic and executive director of the Prix de Lausanne, moderates a conversation with Stella Abrera, a former American Ballet Theatre principal and Prix semifinalist. Together, they’ll talk about the competition, what it takes to reach that level, and how the Prix helps young dancers take the next step toward professional careers.
The conversation is paired with performances by Prix de Lausanne alumni, so audiences get to hear about the competition and see the kind of talent it has helped develop.
Studio 5 is designed to give audiences a closer look at the dance world through conversations with artists and industry leaders. This event takes that idea behind the scenes of one of ballet’s best-known international competitions.
Tickets are $42, and the event is also available on demand. New York City Center is at 131 West 55th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.
If you’ve ever wondered how young dancers make the leap from ballet school to the professional stage, this is a chance to hear the story from people who have lived it.
