German beer, giant pretzels, lederhosen, live music, and the East River? Yup, New York has its own Oktoberfest. Oktoberfest NYC returns to Watermark at Pier 15 each fall for a multi-week celebration of Bavarian food, German beer, music, and good old-fashioned festival fun. The 2026 schedule is still to come, but the annual event already deserves a spot on your fall calendar.

Oktoberfest Comes to the Seaport

Watermark at Pier 15, at 78 South Street, gives Oktoberfest NYC a prime spot in the South Street Seaport. The 3,500-square-foot waterfront venue puts you right along the East River, close to the Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridges.

The event has become a popular fall tradition in Lower Manhattan. Rather than a single Oktoberfest weekend, the celebration usually continues for several weeks from September into October. That makes it easy to pick an afternoon or evening that works for your plans.

And yes, a Bavarian beer garden on the East River is exactly the kind of wonderfully random combination that makes the city so much fun.

Come Hungry

This is not the time to arrive hungry and pretend you’ll just grab one snack. Oktoberfest NYC brings German favorites to the table, including bratwurst, schnitzel, sausage and peppers, giant pretzels, and other festival staples. German beers from Hofbräu, Weihenstephan, and Radeberger have also been part of the lineup, along with traditional steins in several sizes.

Basically, bring an appetite.

Get Into the Oktoberfest Spirit

You know those lederhosen you’ve been waiting for an excuse to wear? This is your moment.

Oktoberfest NYC embraces the traditional Bavarian look, so festive outfits and lederhosen fit right in. You can go all out or keep things simple. Either way, the dress code gives the event a little extra personality.

Live music and other entertainment also add to the celebration. Grab a stein, find a table, listen to the music, and make an afternoon of it. The Seaport gives you plenty to do before or after your Oktoberfest stop, too, so it’s easy to turn the event into part of a full day downtown.

Plan Your Stop at Oktoberfest

Keep an eye on the official Oktoberfest NYC site for the 2026 schedule, including dates, hours, food, entertainment, and ticket details. Then grab your friends and get ready for Oktoberfest at Pier 15.

Until then, save the event to your fall list. A stein of German beer, a giant pretzel, live music, and the East River make for a pretty great New York City afternoon.
