Bastille Day brings a little piece of France to Manhattan each summer, and this year’s celebration promises another busy afternoon on the Upper East Side. On Sunday, July 12th, New Yorkers can head to Madison Avenue for the city’s largest public Bastille Day celebration. Enjoy food, music, performances, and plenty of French flair.

A Taste of France on Madison Avenue

This annual street fair, hosted by L’Alliance New York, has become a summer tradition for thousands of attendees. Last year’s event welcomed more than 50,000 people, and this year’s celebration will once again fill several blocks with French businesses, local vendors, and cultural programming.

Madison Avenue will have more than 50 market booths set up. They’ll be offering everything from French food and pastries to specialty goods and gifts. You can also check out wine and cheese tastings, a classic car rally, live music and dance performances, film screenings, and family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon.

Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille on July 14th, 1789, a turning point in French history. In New York, the occasion has grown into one of the city’s longest-running international cultural celebrations.

Whether you stop by for a croissant, a concert, or just a walk through the market, Bastille Day on Madison Avenue offers an easy way to spend a summer afternoon in the city while experiencing a bit of French culture along the way.
