Peace signs, psychedelic blooms, live folk music, and a few groovy VW buses are taking over the New York Botanical Garden this season. Flower Power, running May 23 through October 18, 2026, channels the free-spirited energy of the 1960s through flowers, art, music, and immersive experiences.
Throughout NYBG, colorful botanical displays and art installations explore the flower’s enduring role as a symbol of peace, love, and connection. Around the Haupt Conservatory, visitors can wander through psychedelic floral displays and snap photos with brightly decorated vintage VW buses. Inside the Museum Building Gallery, works from the 1960s and ’70s include Andy Warhol’s Flowers alongside pieces by Joe Brainard, Milton Glaser, Corita Kent, and other artists of the era.
And Flower Power goes well beyond the garden displays. Weekend programming includes live folk musicians, drum circles, craft workshops, meditative experiences, and seasonal classes centered on flowers and botanical art. Select evenings turn up the volume with Liquid Light Shows, pairing live music with swirling psychedelic projections across the Mertz Library façade.
