New York Comic Con turns 20 this year, and the celebration has a very New York twist. From October 8th through October 11th, NYCC returns to the Javits Center with Coney Island as the theme for its anniversary celebration. That means four days of comics, celebrities, cosplay, gaming, panels, Artist Alley, and plenty of reasons for pop-culture fans to get excited.
And yes, Nicolas Cage is the 2026 Guest of Honor. That’s a pretty great way to celebrate 20 years.
Two New York Icons Come Together
For its 20th anniversary, NYCC is teaming up with Coney Island to bring two New York institutions into the same celebration.
Coney Island USA’s famous Sideshow will come to the Javits Center for performances throughout the weekend. The Sideshow will also provide entertainment during Saturday’s Cosplay Crown Championship. NYCC is also sponsoring the Mermaid Parade, and fans can expect Coney Island-inspired merchandise as part of the anniversary festivities.
The connection makes sense. Both places have spent decades giving New Yorkers and visitors a place to find their people, discover something new, and have a little fun.
There’s a Lot to See at NYCC
This is one of those weekends when you can walk into the Javits Center with one plan and walk out thankful you went where the event took you.
Comic creators take over Artist Alley. Studios bring film and television activations. Anime, gaming, authors, collectibles, workshops, meetups, and screenings all have a place on the schedule. Cosplay has its own major presence, and Family HQ gives younger fans their own space to enjoy the convention.
Nicolas Cage leads the celebrity lineup as Guest of Honor. Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Lena Headey, Matt Smith, Jamie Campbell Bower, Tom Welling, and Kyle MacLachlan are also among the familiar faces expected at NYCC. The programming lineup has major names from comics, television, film, literature, and gaming, so there is a lot to choose from even if your fandom has nothing to do with superheroes.
You can spend an hour browsing Artist Alley, catch a panel, check out an exclusive, watch a cosplay competition, and still find something completely unexpected before you leave.
That’s all a part of the experience.
What Should You Know Before NYCC?
A few parts of NYCC require reservations, so this is one convention where a little advance planning pays off.
Reservations for Main Stage and Empire Stage panels open on September 10th at 12:00 PM. The process is first come, first served, and fans can reserve up to four panels on Thursday, five on Friday, five on Saturday, and three on Sunday.
Funko exclusives and Private Autographing have a new random reservation system this year. The entry period is from September 14th through September 16th. During that window, you can rank your choices in order of preference, and the system will randomly assign available reservations. Look for an email with your results between September 30th and October 2nd.
One important detail: every ticket must be transferred and accepted before September 9th. Each person also needs their own ticket assigned to their own email address to make reservations.
