New York City Restaurant Week is a time in the city when everyone collectively agrees to eat really, really well. For a few precious weeks, reservations that usually feel out of reach suddenly become doable, and those coveted spots finally make it onto your calendar. We’re talking white tablecloth classics to trendy newcomers, and everything in between. Hundreds of restaurants across five boroughs feature special menus at prices you almost never see attached to their names. It’s an exciting time in the city for the foodies, and one you want to take full advantage of. Here’s your guide to NYC Restaurant Week.
What Exactly is NYC Restaurant Week?
At its core, Restaurant Week is a citywide dining event where participating eateries and restaurants offer prix fixe menus for brunch, lunch, dinner, or sometimes a mix of the three.
These menus are designed specifically for the event and usually highlight a few signature dishes alongside some seasonal favorites.
*A few things to keep in mind.* Saturdays are officially excluded, and Sundays are up to the restaurant’s discretion. Weekdays are the best days to plan to go.
How Often Does Restaurant Week Happen?
NYC Restaurant Week shows up twice a year. There are winter and summer editions. Each runs for a few weeks. The winter one tends to be a bit more popular, mostly because it gives New Yorkers something delicious to look forward to during the coldest time of the year.
When is Restaurant Week Winter 2026?
Reservations for Restaurant Week Winter 2026 open on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026. That’s when participating restaurants will release their prix fixe menus. The event itself will be from Tuesday, January 20th to Thursday, February 12th, 2026.
How Much Does Restaurant Week Cost?
For Winter 2026, the menus will fall into three price tiers: $30, $45, and $60. These prices apply to two- and three-course prix fixe meals, depending on the restaurant and the time of day.
Drinks, tax, and gratuity are generally not included, so keep that in mind when budgeting. Even with those extras, it’s still one of the best chances all year to experience some of the best dining NYC has to offer at a more reasonable price.
