The US Open always attracts plenty of attention once the matches begin, but the tournament actually starts before the first championship match ever takes the court.

Fan Week kicks off on August 23rd, followed by the US Open on August 24th. The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center stays busy through September 13 with qualifying matches, practice sessions, and packed night matches inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Whether you plan to spend a full day at the grounds or catch one marquee match, here’s what to expect from the 2026 US Open.

When Does the US Open Take Place?

The 2026 US Open runs from August 24th through September 13th at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens.

Fan Week takes place August 23rd through August 29th and offers an early look at the tournament before the later rounds begin. Throughout the event, fans can watch singles, doubles, mixed doubles, junior, and wheelchair competition as players compete for one of tennis’ biggest titles.

Why Fan Week Deserves a Spot on Your Calendar

Fan Week gives tennis fans a chance to experience the US Open before the tournament reaches its busiest stretch.

Qualifying matches, practice sessions, and special events fill the grounds throughout the week. Tennis legend Roger Federer returns to Arthur Ashe Stadium for a special exhibition on August 25th, and The Lumineers open tournament week with a concert at Louis Armstrong Stadium on August 21st.

If you’ve never visited the US Open before, Fan Week offers a relaxed way to explore the grounds and watch world-class tennis before the championship rounds begin.

Explore the US Open Grounds

Arthur Ashe Stadium may bring in the biggest crowds, but it is only one part of the experience.

Louis Armstrong Stadium, Grandstand, and the outer courts keep matches going throughout the day, which means there is almost always another great seat just a short walk away. Practice courts allow fans to get a closer view of their favorite players before match time.

Between matches, visitors can browse merchandise, stop for a meal, or check out sponsor exhibits across the grounds.

What’s New for 2026?

Several updates have been announced for the 2026 tournament.

Arthur Ashe Stadium continues its transformation with new premium hospitality spaces, including The Blue Room, The Club, and The Overlook. The tournament also introduces a refreshed mixed doubles championship format, while Zedd headlines the official US Open Finals Afterparty on September 12th.

Your US Open Game Plan

Tickets are available at several price levels, from reserved seats inside Arthur Ashe Stadium to grounds passes that give fans access to matches across the complex.

The full tournament schedule, match times, and ticket options are available through the US Open website. If you plan to attend popular sessions, it’s a good idea to purchase tickets early.

The US Open returns to Queens with three weeks of tennis, entertainment, and fan experiences. There’s always something worth checking out once you step through the gates.
