The Battery Dance Festival returns to Lower Manhattan from August 10th to 16th, for a full week of free outdoor performances at Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Park. The annual festival has introduced New Yorkers to dance from around the world for more than four decades, and this year’s lineup includes companies from New York, Spain, Taiwan, Brazil, Romania, and beyond.
A Week of Free Performances
The Battery Dance Festival is New York City’s longest-running free public dance festival. Performances begin each evening at 7:00 PM, with more than 40 companies scheduled throughout the week. Since every night features a different lineup, there’s always something new to discover.
The festival opens on August 10th with free dance workshops before the evening performances. Whether you enjoy contemporary dance, cultural traditions, or experimental works, the schedule offers a wide range of styles by artists from across the globe.
Robert F. Wagner, Jr. Park provides a beautiful backdrop for the festival. The New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty are just beyond the stage. Arrive early, find a spot on the lawn, and enjoy one of the city’s signature summer arts events. Be sure to check the full festival lineup before you go so you can catch the performances that interest you most.
