New York City’s baseball season isn’t the only reason to visit Yankee Stadium this summer. New York City FC returns to the Bronx for select home matches throughout the season, including a matchup against the Philadelphia Union on Sunday, August 16th, with kickoff at 3:30 PM.
Soccer Comes to the Bronx
New York City FC is a Major League Soccer club located within New York City’s five boroughs. While the team plays at more than one venue during the season, select home matches take place at Yankee Stadium. Fans can watch top-level soccer at one of the city’s most recognizable sports venues.
An NYCFC match has an atmosphere all its own. Supporters fill the stadium with chants from the opening whistle to the final minutes. This energy creates something that feels completely different from a baseball game.
Insider tip: don’t miss the stadium’s famous Chicken Bucket, a fan favorite that has earned a following well beyond Yankees games.
The August 16th match is a great opportunity to experience Major League Soccer right here in the city. Check the NYCFC schedule for additional home matches at Yankee Stadium throughout the season.
